Monnit, a global leader in Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, today announced a master partnership with Tokyo-based Widetec, a leading IT infrastructure company. Under the agreement, Widetec is authorized to sell and distribute Monnit ALTA® Wireless Sensors and related IoT solutions across Japan, significantly expanding access to wireless IoT monitoring technologies in the region.

The partnership follows regulatory updates approved by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in May 2025. These updates enable Monnit’s long-range, low-power sensors to operate at the 920 MHz frequency band, a key requirement for deployment in Japan. Through this agreement, Widetec will provide localized support, including system implementation, documentation, and Japanese-language software built on Monnit’s iMonnit® cloud and on-premises platforms.

Initially, Widetec will offer 28 Monnit IoT products across environmental, power, and motion monitoring categories. These include sensors designed to track temperature, humidity, voltage, current, occupancy, vibration, and other critical operational metrics. The portfolio will expand further as Monnit introduces new sensors and technologies.

Together, Monnit and Widetec aim to deliver IoT solutions that address Japan’s most pressing challenges, including workforce shortages, aging infrastructure, and the need for rapid emergency response. Monnit’s wireless sensors are designed for fast deployment without requiring specialized networking expertise, allowing organizations to monitor facilities and infrastructure more efficiently while reducing operational complexity and cost.
