Upwind Raises $250M Series B to Scale Runtime-First Cloud Security
Upwind, the runtime-first cloud security leader, has raised $250 million in Series B funding, bringing its total funding to $430 million. The round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from Salesforce Ventures and Picture Capital.
Existing investors include Greylock, Cyberstarts, Leaders Fund, Craft Ventures, TCV, Alta Park, Cerca Partners, Swish Ventures and Penny Jar Capital. The funding marks the beginning of what Upwind calls “The Next Wave,” a new growth phase focused on scaling runtime-powered cloud security to support AI-driven and real-time cloud applications globally.
“Cloud infrastructure has changed faster than the security models designed to protect it. The next era of cloud security requires a fundamentally different approach, centered in real-time signals.”
— Amiram Shachar, CEO & Co-founder, Upwind
Shachar emphasized that runtime evidence is essential for securing modern cloud environments, particularly as AI adoption accelerates and static, posture-based security models struggle to reflect real exploitability.
Cloud Security Market Momentum
Cloud security remains a rapidly expanding market, with Cloud-Native Application Protection Platforms (CNAPP) emerging as a core category. Frost & Sullivan projects the global CNAPP market will reach $18.79 billion by 2029, growing at approximately 28% annually.
Gartner predicts that by 2029, 40% of enterprises that successfully implement zero trust in cloud environments will rely on CNAPP solutions for advanced visibility and control.
Rapid Growth and Global Expansion
Since its $100 million funding round one year ago, Upwind has achieved 900% year-over-year revenue growth and 200% logo growth. The company has expanded its workforce from 150 to more than 300 employees and strengthened its presence in the U.S., U.K., and Israel, with additional momentum in Australia, India, Singapore, and Japan.
Upwind now secures millions of workloads for global enterprises including Waste Management, Siemens, Carvana, Roku, ClickUp, Wix, Nubank, Agoda, Peloton, Fiverr and BILL. Customers report a 98% reduction in security alerts and 60% fewer irrelevant CVEs through runtime-based prioritization.
“Upwind changes cloud security by showing what is actually happening at runtime and why it matters. It allows us to interrogate our data in real time, saving time and money while improving security operations.”
— Jerich Beason, CISO, Waste Management
Partnerships and Product Expansion
To support enterprise-scale adoption, Upwind has expanded its ecosystem with more than 100 new partners across ISVs, MSPs and resellers. The company also launched a strategic partnership with NVIDIA and deepened collaborations with hyperscalers including Microsoft Azure and AWS.
With the new funding, Upwind plans to accelerate product development and go-to-market execution, expanding its platform across data, AI and code. This includes advancing AI security capabilities and extending runtime protection closer to developers to prevent misconfigurations before production deployment.
Industry Recognition
Upwind has received multiple industry recognitions, including CNADR Company of the Year from Frost & Sullivan, Leader and Outperformer in Container Security, and inclusion in Gartner’s 2025 Market Guide for CNAPP. The company is rated 4.9 out of 5 on Gartner Peer Insights and has been named to Fortune’s Cyber 60 and CRN’s 2025 Stellar Startups in Security.
